5 Fun Things to do on Summer Solstice

Summer solsticeHere it is, the summer solstice.  Or as the bard would have it, a fabulous tribute to A Midsummer Night’s Dream.  One of my favorite quotes from that describes me perfectly.

“Though she be but little, she is fierce!”
William Shakespeare, A Midsummer Night’s Dream

On June 21st or 22nd in the Northern Hemisphere, people everywhere have celebrated renewal, life, fertility, and hopefully a good harvest.

To be honest, I would like to be here today:

Aimee at Stonehenge
The Burned Hand visits  Stonehenge

But if that is not an option for you, as it is not currently an option for me either, then I have a few ideas for you to celebrate today and tomorrow should you desire.

5 Fun Things to do on Summer Solstice:

  1. Do some gardening with herbs if you can.  I recently went to my favorite local garden center (it is owned by a local family), and I purchased lemon verbena, honey lavender, and rosemary, which is a favorite of mine.  I already have my chives, thyme, mint, and some catnip actually (mosquitoes don’t like it).  I have been infusing my tea with fresh herbs, cooking with it and just smelling it.  My family has been gardening for years and my dad is considered a master gardener, so identifying plants runs deep, but herbs have been a favorite since my first taste of basil.  Yummy.  An old favorite is a tomato/basil sandwich with nothing else.  Just a bit of Himalayan Salt and pepper.
  2. Make a fairy garden.  I have been a bit obsessed with fairies for as long as I can remember.  I started collecting pewter fairies, castles, gnomes and anything I could as a pre-teen, and have passed on my things to my youngest teen.  But this new craze of fairy gardens can be expensive.  So just get an empty pot, some dirt, grab some sticks on a walk, bark, moss (that’s what grows in my yard), and make a tiny display inviting the wee folk into your display. You can make tiny mushrooms, houses, and put a few of the plants that stay small like succulents and walkables (they will spread, but can be walked on should you want to do this in your garden).  Now I have to put another favorite quote in here from my college days.  “Faërie contains many things besides elves and fays, and besides dwarfs, witches, trolls, giants, or dragons; it holds the seas, the sun, the moon, the sky; and the earth, and all things that are in it: tree and bird, water and stone, wine and bread, and ourselves, mortal men, when we are enchanted.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien
  3. Practice yoga or meditate!  HEY.  I am doing that tonight!! Yes, I make up a special class for my friends and then we sip wine after, but you don’t have to do anything fancy.  In my Club, I break down a few yoga moves that can be done anywhere, including a chair, but you can just do a few Sun Sals.  I linked that for you to watch as she has a sweet energy.
  4. Set intentions of what you want to come into your life!  My club members have really gotten into the habit of this as it is so good to focus on what we want in our lives.  I do this monthly with them as we really clear out the old and then shift our thinking into how we want the next few weeks to look.  Focus on the feeling at the end, and then yoke that feeling towards you with all your might as you write out the intention.  I know you might be reading this thinking I am cray, and I won’t disagree with you, but I have changed my life and continue to do so each and every month.  Need proof of what I speak?  You can read my about me here.
  5. Create a new self-care ritual.  My something new this month seems to be bringing me pain, but I am starting to feel alive again after a knee injury.  I admit I am somewhat hermit-y << that’s a real word.  I keep a tight circle, and I force myself to expand it when I feel it shrinking…as it periodically does because of my nature to keep to myself.  However, I joined a new ermmm torture chamber, others call it a gym/personal training type place.  Anyway, I think it is good for me and I have been setting my alarm earlier.  That is itself is a miracle I tell you as I can sleep like the dead, but usually only those two hours right before I wake up, so I sleep late.  Anyway, I have all the excuses you can think of down, but not this time.  In order to exact change, I myself and no one else can make me get out of bed.  If there is something you have been wanting to try that’s new, I say go for it!

I hope this helped you think about the things you want to invite in your life, and not just on the summer solstice.  Summer always brings that child-like wonder and energy that might be dormant, so if you want a helping hand or two, come find me.  I have some amazing content geared just for your soul.  I use my empath abilities to check into the collective of the group and see what we really need from a Head|Heart|Health perspective.  Get out and enjoy the day my friends!

Boundary Setting and the Empath.

Whew.  This week y’all.  In a few years, people might be reading this article and not know what the energy feels like right now, so let me explain it as best I can.  Many people are dipping heavily into a low-vibration right now around the world.  This is based on true scientific evidence, but for more information read my linked post.  Basically, we shouldn’t feel guilty for the low-vibration energy or negative vibes we feel coming our way right now, but we have to recognize the signs and start putting firm boundaries in place today!

If you are sensitive to other energies, feel like there are times you can actually put yourself in someone’s shoes and feel their pain, you might be an empath.

Empaths have a hard time saying no to people and situations because they want to help and don’t like to cause hurt feelings.  This is a very real thing that starts to drain the empath over time until they just have nothing left to give their own health and wellness.  Sometimes, it takes an entire year to recover from being depleted.

How can boundary setting help?

Setting clear boundaries can protect your own energy and thus keep you from becoming completely wiped out.  It is very essential!!

What can I do to set clear boundaries?

  1. The first thing that I always go to, is of course, my goal setting and intentions.  How do I want to feel after a day?  A week?  A month?  What do I have left to give other people?  If you have to, imagine it like your energy batteries.  When they are completely drained, how long will you last?
  2. When you are out, do you just HAVE to answer that call, text or message from that one friend?  What happens if you don’t?  How do you feel when you say, I can’t talk right now.  I am busy, but will get back to you later.  Do you feel okay?  Do they act weird??  If they act like it’s the worst thing in the world to wait, keep doing it and watch for signs.  Repeated pushing of your boundaries needs to be addressed.  Pronto.
  3. Notice where you put your attention.  Pause before you answer that message.  If you are at work and someone asks you to do something to help them before you are finished with what you already have on your plate, notice how you feel.  Pause and reflect.  Are you giving off the message that you drop your work to help others therefore creating this open invitation?  What happens when you pause and say, I don’t have time right now, but ask me tomorrow.
  4. Make a list of your self-care needs.  If you say “What is self-care?”…you might need to make a list.  Also, you can open the linked post:)
  5. Figure out who tries to cross the line…repeatedly.  This is usually the person who goes right into their story as soon as you answer the phone or message.  I am not talking about your best-friend who needs advice occasionally, nope.  I am talking about the person who needs you all the time.  24/7 and the story is probably the same exact one.  They are using the narcissistic friend cycle of guilt on you.  Every time you think you have helped, the next day they come back again.  It’s the same thing week after week.  Whew.  It drains you repeatedly.

I hope these tips help you and feel free to come on board the Head|Heart|Health Club where will be practicing safe boundaries all month-long and diving deep into our own worth. <<< Click the linked word for more.  We are releasing guilt, shame, and unworthy feelings by learning how to step into our own power by creating new habits that really support our lifelong journey in our heads, hearts and health.

Manifesting Journal Tips

Once upon a time, I started a journal and acted AS IF what I wrote in the journal had already come true.  I started adding in monthly goals, and then just writing throughout the month AS IF those goals came true.  If I showed you my journal now, you would be amazed at the number of check marks beside each statement I wrote.  Yes, they came true.

So before you guys think I am making this up, I kid you not, I started telling my girlfriends about it.  We have a night we call “Sister circle” and it is a night we can bring crafts, stories, wine, or whatever, ha, to the table.  I started telling them a while back about my journal.  Then I started helping my friends journal…and even art journal, bullet journal or whatever, but they had to lay it all out there.  Bare.  No lies in the journal.

Since I started my journal therapy sessions, one girlfriend came back to yoga, started losing weight and unblocking her weight-loss well, block, another started healing internally from divorce, and countless other things have happened.  I think the BEST thing that has happened, is that I thought they would be afraid to show me their journals, but they aren’t.  That is huge.  It means they are stepping into this truth that they write and owning it, which is part of the shift in thinking.  We live from a place of now instead of fear.  I was so proud of my girlfriend who wrote on weight loss that the first time she showed me her wall, I got teary.  It was a huge shift.  Oh, the wall she drew in her journal with all her blocks on losing weight.

5 Tips to Manifest Change in Your Life:

  1. Practice gratitude each morning.  I recently gave my talk in London about how at my darkest pain level, I started getting out of the bed and saying “thank you”.  I talk to God, Jesus, Angels and the Universe, but you do whatever floats your boat.  I don’t believe I have to make a choice in believing that God supports my decisions to get well only if I do x,y,z and therefore Law of Attraction type thoughts are wrong.  Nope.  He supports me.
  2. I constantly realign my thoughts every single minute.  I am no different from you.  Each of us has the potential to think good or bad thoughts and dwell on them.  Notice the thoughts and every time you think a negative thought, put a positive spin on it and float it down the river.
  3. TAKE ownership of what is happening in your life.  People most often blame others, their parents, God, the Universe, the Devil, your 5th grade teacher…or someone else.  Umm.  It’s you.  Yup.  It’s you.  I know what you are thinking…I didn’t ask for this.  Neither did I, read my about me to see what I didn’t ask for.  Nevertheless, it was there.  I couldn’t change my genes.  I accepted the diseases and then finally, finally, began to move on.  Yes, I spent countless hours researching and developing a plan to move forward and release myself, but still, I did something about it!
  4. Write down a clear intention of how you want to feel.  I started writing how I wanted to feel, and reading it nightly.  I wrote what great things were coming to me.  And I sat and felt those emotions.  How I would feel in my new SUV and what it would be like to really have a new car.  We desperately needed one, but here is a tip.  You can’t manifest from desperation.  I had to let all that go.  Scarcity thinking.  Nope.  Abundant thinking.  Yes.  I have enough.  I am enough.  I wrote about the vehicle in December.  In April, we bought a new SUV.  My mini-van was literally falling to pieces by that time, but I let go of the thoughts of not making it down the road.  I opened myself up to thoughts of a reliable vehicle and how that would feel.
  5. Really and truly feel the gratitude AS IF it has already happened.  Seriously, this one is so important that it started and ended my days.  I said thank you every night.  I blessed the goodness in my life nightly.  I still do.  I push allllll the other thoughts away and if for some reason I can’t, I go to yoga then I can think on what great things have happened.  So have your routine.  Go for a walk, pray, mediate, run, go to yoga, but think on the goodness of the universe because it is there.  It is.  Do good deeds and random acts of kindness as you go along, and you will really feel the boomerang effect of what you think you attract.

Lastly, because I believe in journal therapy so much, I added another bonus to my Head|Heart|Health Club, which really and truly gets you out of your head and into action!!  The whole reason I designed it was for people who are stuck in their heads, hearts, and not able to move forward for their health.  Much like I was in the beginning of this life-long journey to create the path I was meant to be on.  I am there now and would love to have you join me!

Things you should do more of.

Things you should do more of this year…as the word resolution has never sat well with me.

  1. Tell someone you love them everyday.
  2. Laugh daily.
  3. Make eye contact with a stranger and smile.
  4. Say thank you and mean it.
  5. Appreciate the good in your life.
  6. Start each day on your terms.  Decide what the day is going to be like.
  7. Trust yourself more.
  8. If the choice is anger or kindness…count down in your head.  You’ll make a better choice.
  9. No self-pity.  That’s right.  If for one second you start, re-direct your thoughts to the gifts you possess (p.s. harder to do).
  10. Choose friends who love and approve of you…not bring out the negative.

Some of these might be hard for you to do; however, you can and you must refocus your thoughts this year.  It is not time to dwell on what went wrong.  What happened is over.  Let it be.
